CēVē Help
Overview
Thank you for using CēVē (pronounced “see vee”), a mobile app that provides relevant, real-time information to improve travel efficiency and safety for drivers. This is a new product, so we’ll be experimenting with features and user interfaces as we learn from our customers. We would love to hear your feedback and you can send it to info@ceve.io. Your feedback (good and bad) on features, usability, and bugs is invaluable, so please don’t hesitate to mention anything.
Using CēVē
CēVē is designed to be used by drivers, while driving, but only in a safe manner. If you intend to look at the display while driving, your phone should be mounted to your dashboard or windshield in a visible location. You should not hold your phone in your hand or lap, and should not touch the screen while your vehicle is moving. Otherwise, you can use the audio and voice features of CēVē regardless of the location of your phone. In addition, some data, including speed limits and signal timing predictions, may be incorrect, and so you should always defer to road signs and traffic lights as the final authority.
The first time you open the CēVē app, you will be asked to “Allow CēVē to access your location?”. You should select “Allow While Using App”. After using the app for a day, you will then be asked to “Allow CēVē to also access your location even when you are not using the app?” If you would like CēVē to work in the background then you should select “Change to Always Allow”. You will then be asked periodically if you want to continue allowing this, and you can change the setting at any time through the iOS Settings app.
Phone Requirements
CēVē requires an Apple iPhone running iOS version 13 or higher. CēVē also requires access to the Internet in order to retrieve real-time information based on your location. It will use your cellular data plan and may result in additional data fees.
User Interface
The user interface is organized into 3 sections:
The map pane displays your current location on a map, along with other relevant information such as your navigation route, destination, traffic lights, and other points of interest. You can access the menu by tapping the icon in the upper-left corner of the map. Your direction of travel is shown in the upper-right corner, and you can tap it to change the orientation of the map. The display can also be oriented horizontally by rotating your phone.
The navigation pane displays a search button and common destinations, as well as turn-by-turn directions and other information relevant to navigating your trips. You can tap in the navigation pane to select a destination or end (or mute) directions.
The information pane displays indicators such as the speed limit, traffic light status, and travel information. Different icons and colors are used to convey status of the various indicators.
Speed Limits
The box on the left shows the current speed limit.
It will be colored yellow when you exceed the limit slightly. It will be colored red when you exceed a configurable threshold above the limit, and you will receive an audible alert.
Traffic Lights
The circle in the middle shows the status of the next traffic light. Arrows show the allowed turn directions.
A red circle indicates the estimated time-to-green-light with a one minute countdown timer that updates every second. If there is more than one light (for example, a left turn lane) then a timer will be displayed for each light that is red. You will hear an announcement approximately 10 seconds before the light is predicted to change green.
A question mark symbol indicates that there is not an accurate enough estimate of when the light will change. An exclamation point indicates that the signal is in an alert condition and no timing information is currently available.
A green circle indicates the maximum advisory speed in order to arrive at a green light. It will be colored yellow if you are currently going below the speed range predicted to arrive at a green light. A Premium subscription is required for advisory speeds.
When an upcoming traffic light is detected, you will hear an announcement with the range of speeds predicted to arrive at a green light, if possible. Otherwise, you will see a countdown timer for the subsequent green light.
Event Information
The circle on the right indicates travel advisory information such as school zones and high-capacity special events.
The indicator will turn yellow and you will hear an audible announcement when traveling towards an event.
